Day 1&2

Dear readers,
 we are going to share our thoughts and emotions about the Intensive Course week with you.
Anitta (Finland), Priti (Nepal), Anna (Sweden), Tine (Norway), Kristi (Estonia). Our mentor is Marina Hirjaba.

DAY 1
Our first day we talked about resilience and evidence based nursing practice etc.
HIGHLIGHTS: In finland every fifth woman have experiences of  violence. We also  learnt that most of the rapes happens indoors and more possibly by familiars. It is interesting to know that because we tend to think that staying indoors late at night is very safe.

We also got to know about the concept "resilience". We translated it to different mother tongues: jätkusuutlikkus (Estonian), motståndskraft (Swedish), motstandskraft (Norwegian), lujittavuus (Finnish), bikasonmukh (Nepali).
Professor Ilsa Lottes presented us statistics about inequalities which shows that Norway, Sweden, Finland are doing good in that area compared to U.S.

In the evening we gathered to gasthaus Laajari here, in Jyväskylä. We played funny games and just tried to get to know each other. It was nice relaxing time with music and new friends. Thanks for everybody!

DAY 2
It was really good to think about family as a team and how to link theory to practice. It is important to cope with tensions and not to give up too fast. Principal lecturer Anna Rönkä from JAMK emphasised the fact that communication in a couple relationship is essential. So it is important to stay positive while talking, no matter what is the topic. The lecture was really interesting! This is a theme that everybody can relate to.
In the afternoon we visited Central hospital  in Jyväskylä and they introduced breastfeeding counselling. It is good to see that Finnish midwives emphasise the importance of breastfeeding and counsel women even through the phone for free. Although counselling costs 27 euros per visit, we think it is worth it. Probably there would be more customers if the price was cheaper.

After a long day, we had great sauna and dinner with  nice company in Ladun maja.
